MARGAO: After a brief lull, dengue has raised its ugly head once again in the coastal village of Cavelossim with health officials confirming that three persons, including a 3-year old child, have been hit by the disease.
Officials of the Primary Health Centre Chinchinim Dr Nixon Fernandes said that three cases have so far been reported from the coastal village till date, but hastened to add the situation is well under control. Given the situation, health officials have carried out fogging operations in the village to keep the disease under control.
Replying to a question, he said that reports have confirmed that a 3-year old child, who is undergoing treatment in a private hospital, is affected by dengue, adding that the child’s condition is stable. “We have taken all precautionary measures to keep dengue at bay. But the new case is also an eye opener for local residents to do their bit to control the menace”, he said, while seeking cooperation from villagers to address the situation.
To another question, Dr Nixon said that no fresh case of fever has been reported from the village so far, but he preferred to keep his fingers crossed as dengue had hit the coastal village a year ago, affecting some villagers.
