VASCO: Over 30 Congress members from Dabolim Block joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday at a grand function at New Vaddem in presence of Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho and the saffron party supporters.
The minister said, “The new legislation in the Panchayat Department will ease the process of obtaining permissions and approvals for residential structures.” Senior Congress member Vaman Chodankar, Adv Savio Noronha and other members joined the BJP.
Speaking media persons, the Panchayat Minister said during his interaction via video conferencing with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant at Swayampurna Goa, several panchayats welcomed the legislation.
Godinho said, “The legislation will benefit Goans as well others, I fail to understand why the Opposition wants to create a divide among the people”.
He said, “At times people go for illegal constructions due to the lengthy process in obtaining approvals and permissions. We have made it simple that within the existing plinth area, a certificate of structural stability from any architect should be obtained.”
