PANJIM: A day after handing over additional charge of Calangute Police Station to Police Inspector Laxi Amonkar following suspension of PI Nolasco Raposo, the police headquarters has confirmed him to the rank. PI Amonkar was promoted on ad-hoc basis in January 2021.
Police higher ups on Thursday suspended PI Raposo for purposes mishandling of vandalism and shooting incident at Calangute.
PI Amonkar, who is currently posted at Crime Branch, is given the additional charge of Calangute Police Station. Ahead of the election Code of Conduct, the department issued fresh orders promoting 30 Police Sub Inspectors to the rank of inspectors. Among the total promoted, 11 officers’ promotions are on officiating basis while the remaining are on regular basis.
The order also comes two days after 57 Head Constables were elevated to the rank of Assistant Sub Inspectors. In another probable order scheduled in the coming days, an equal number of constables are likely to be promoted to Head Constables.
