PANJIM: Nearly 3000 questions raising concerns about law and order, mining, Mopa airport and government’s new welfare schemes are expected to be raised by Opposition legislators at the forthcoming 28-day Budget Session, beginning March 18.
Legislature Secretary N B Subhedar said that the legislature department has received over 1000 questions for discussion pertaining to various departments such as law and order, mining, social welfare and women and child.
“Most of the questions are based on law and order, mining, Mopa airport, Laadli Laxmi and Griha Aadhar scheme,” he said adding ‘the number of questions is expected to go up to 3000 with last date for submitting questions being April 8’.
Subhedar said that since it is the longest session, the House will have more business by way of private member resolutions and tabling of bills.
“Total 15 bills would be tabled at this session,” he said adding ‘the state budget would be presented on the very first day in the afternoon session’.
The secretary said that this is one of the longest sessions ever as the earlier record stood at 25 days which was during Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar tenure in 2002.
The opposition Congress had last week submitted a memorandum to Governor B V Wanchoo pointing to the failures of government in almost all sectors in its one-year of office. Parrikar government completed one year in office on March 9.
