310 new COVID cases recorded

PANJIM:  The COVID19 spike continued on Saturday as State recorded 310 new cases, a highest single-day rise. However, the positivity rate dropped to 6.25 per cent for the day. 

On Friday, the State has recorded 212 cases at a positivity rate of 6.93 per cent. 

Since December 28, the State has logged 865 new cases. As such, the active case load stood at 1,338. 

With no fatalities in last 24 hours, only 18 people were recovered. 

Of the 310 cases, 307 patients have opted for home isolation with mild symptoms.Margao reported highest number of 42 new cases taking the total tally of active patients to 166. 

Panjim too recorded 35 new cases on Saturday with total active cases to 155. The other health centres that saw a rise in cases include Cansaulim, Cortalim, Chimbel, Candolim, Porvorim, Siolim and Ponda. 

The Task Force on COVID19 management is set to meet on Monday.
