PANJIM: The State government has reserved Sarpanch posts in 32 village panchayts in North and 31 in South Goa for women, and post of Deputy Sarpanch in 32 panchayats in North and 29 in South Goa.
The government has also reserved the posts of Sarpanch and Deputy Sarpanch in 35 village panchayats in North while 28 in South Goa for the general category.
Reservation for women Sarpanch and Deputy Sarpanch will be allotted by rotation during every election to the village panchayats.
In North Goa, panchayats reserved for women for the post of Sarpanch include four in Sattari, five in Bicholim, 11 in Bardez and six each in Tiswadi and Pernem. In South Goa one panchayat has been reserved in Sanguem, three in Dharbandora, four each in Quepem and Mormugao, two in Canacona, ten in Salcete and seven in Ponda.
Similarly in North Goa, the village panchayats which have been reserved for women for the post of Deputy Sarpanch are four in Sattari, six in Bicholim, 11 in Bardez and six each in Pernem and Tiswadi. In South Goa three each have been reserved in Sanguem, Quepem and Canacona, nine in Salcete, four in Mormugao and six in Ponda.
The government has further reserved village panchayats for the post of sarpanch as well as deputy sarpanch in the general category. In North Goa there are four in Sattari, six each in Bicholim and Tiswadi, 11 in Bardez and eight in Pernem reserved. In South Goa three panchayats have been reserved in Sanguem, one in Dharbandora, four in Quepem, two each in Canacona and Mormugao, 11 in Salcete and six in Ponda.
