MAPUSA: A 33-year-old Aldona resident was killed when the scooter he was riding was hit by a truck at Guirim on Saturday.
According to the police, the deceased Videsh Vinod Polle, resident of Podwal, Khorjuvem, Aldona, Bardez, was proceeding from Parra towards Guirim. He was hit by the goods carrier truck which too was proceeding from Parra towards Guirim direction. The driver allegedly drove the truck in a rash negligent manner, without ensuring proper care, caution, near Government School, Guirim and hit the scooter. The deceased sustained grievous injuries and was shifted to District hospital, Mapusa, where he succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.
The Mapusa Police have arrested the truck driver Raghunath Tukaram Powar under sections of 279 and 304-A of IPC.
Medical examination of the truck driver for consumption of alcohol has been done and the report is awaited, police said.
