PANJIM: All 336 mining lease holders in Goa had been asked to file their monthly returns, using the e-filing system according to a circular issued by the Directorate of Mines and Geology.
The Mines and Minerals Development Regulation Act (MMRD) makes filing of monthly e-returns by mining firms compulsory.
Director of Mines Prasanna Acharya has said that the process of e-filing has been developed by Goa Electronic Limited to facilitate online filing of monthly returns. “The directorate has decided that from July 2013, the submission of monthly returns would be done only through the online portal,” the circular reads.
The lease holders have to provide details pertaining to their mining lease, which include mine owner’s name, TC No, address, office telephone number, fax number, etc.
Currently, Supreme Court has halted mining operations in the state following Justice M B Shah Commission report on illegal mining in Goa. The report has exposed Rs 35,000 crore scam and has tagged all mining leases as illegal.
