34,000 cubic mts of sand seized at Colvale

MAPUSA: Colvale Police seized around 34,000 cubic metres of “illegally” extracted sand at Chicalim, Colvale during a raid on Wednesday. The extracted sand was later dumped along the Chapora River bank.

According to the Colvale Police, after receiving information, the raid was conducted at around 2 am and after conducting the panchanama the sand was seized. 

Later a team of officials of the Mines and Geology Department headed by Nitin Satoskar, Assistant Geologist, visited the site along with joint Mamlatdar and other officials. A police complaint was filed against one Videsh Dhargalkar and another person for “illegally” extracting the sand from Chapora River.
