3,425 patients diagnosed under STEMI project: Health Secy

PANJIM: Secretary (Health) Arun Kumar Mishra on Wednesday said that till date as many as 3,425 patients were diagnosed and 2,573 were thrombolysed under the ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) project launched in 2018.

Mishra said that the State government initiated STEMI project in partnership with Tricog Health Services Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru for achieving the objectives of Ayushman Bharat and Sustainable Development Goals, to reduce the premature mortality from non-communicable diseases by one-third with adopting advanced health practices and modern technology. 

The aim of this project is to reduce morbidity and mortality from STEMI in the State and these services are provided free of cost to all patients.

With this model, average time for treatment of a heart attack patient is reduced and brought closer to the ‘golden hour’ of 90 minutes, saving countless lives. This project was initially started with one government Hub and 12 existing peripheral government hospitals being the spokes, and has now expanded to four hubs (three private hospitals covered Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY) scheme and 20 spokes last year.

Stating that medical services in the State are setting an example towards achieving India’s G20 priorities under health track, Mishra said that the STEMI Goa project will be presented to G20 Summit international delegates as a model of Digital Health Innovation.

Mishra further said that Goa’s Immunisation model is an excellent example of well-organised and effective use of technology to ensure that every child is immunised in a timely manner.
