VASCO: Mormugao Deputy CollectorGaurish Shankhwalkar on Wednesday served notices to 35 huts which have sprung up within the limits of the High Tide Level (HTL) at Baina beach.
“Before any soil erosion takes place during this monsoon, you are requested to vacate the huts and move to a safer place to avoid any untoward incident,” the notice states.
Sources from the deputy collector’s office informed that the water resources department officials will also visit the area on Thursday morning.
After taking stock of the situation, they will advise those residing in the HTL to adhere to the deputy collector’s order.
“Around 300 illegal huts are reported to have mushroomed within the HTL and the demolition notice had been served by the CRZ authorities. However, no action has been initiated so far,” said a source from the deputy collector’s office.
