PANJIM: Even as PWD Minister Ramkrishna Sudin Dhavalikar announced that there would be a reduction in the non-revenue water (NRW) from the present 35 to 20 per cent by December 2014 end, the Government has already suffered a revenue loss of Rs 77.37 crore in 2012-13.
The comptroller auditor general (CAG) report that was tabled in the House on Wednesday observed that almost 35 percent of the drinking water in Goa has been ‘unaccounted.’ According to the Union Urban Development Ministry guidelines unbilled or unaccounted water should not exceed 15 percent of the total supply, the CAG pointed out.
“The unaccounted water of Goa constitutes 35 percent of the water produced.” CAG said.
