MAPUSA: Assagao locals have raised concerns over the alleged illegal felling of trees as yet another incident came to light at Vadewado.
The locals initially thought that someone was clearing the bushes, but during their visit to the spot they learnt that the entire hill, which is a private property, has been cleared by allegedly felling the trees.
Acting on the complaint by the locals, the Forest Department conducted a site inspection wherein it was revealed that over 36 fruit bearing and medicinal trees were allegedly felled. The Forest Department officials seized the material and further investigation is on.
