MARGAO: Eight hundred forms were received by the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of Fatorda over the past three days of which 391 new voters submitted their registration forms and the rest were regarding transfer of voter, deceased voter, correction etc. The last date for submitting the forms is October 31.The AERO for Fatorda, Joao Fernandes, Mamlatdar of Salcete said he and his team visited several institutes in Fatorda including the Provedoria, Orphanage, Pajifond, Don Bosco College, Chowgule College, ITI Borda and Government College of Commerce, Borda. “We explained to them about the importance of voting and their voting rights. We also explained to them how to register as a voter online using the website www.nvsp.in. We asked the students and Nodal Officers of the institutes to pass the message to all the other students.”, said Fernandes.
When asked what was the advantage of registering online, Fernandes said that the applicants do not need to take leave from work or their classes. Fernandes informed that they have displayed banners inside the Joggers track for raising public awareness. “We will continue this drive till the 31st and we hope everyone comes forwards and registers as a voter inorder to execute their fundamental right”, he said.
