MAPUSA: Four motorcycles, six generators, 30 gas stoves and 18 batteries were gutted in fire, at Canca, here, on Saturday early morning.
According to the Mapusa Fire Station, the control room received a call at 4.19 am on Saturday informing that a motorcycle has caught fire. Immediately, a team of fire personnel rushed to the spot and started with the fire-fighting operation.
The officials informed that four motorcycles including Bajaj Pulsar, Honda Dio, NTorc and Jupiter were gutted in fire which was kept outside a shop. In the process, the fire spread to the next shop and six generators, 30 gas stoves and 18 batteries also caught fire, which were kept in the shop owned by one Vishant Parab. It took one-and-half hour for the fire team to dose off the fire completely. The owner claimed loss of around Rs 10 lakh. The exact cause of fire is not known yet.
Meanwhile, the Mapusa Fire Station will be writing to the Mapusa Police Station to ascertain the exact cause of fire. The fire team managed to save goods worth Rs 20 lakh.
The team consisted of Sub Officer Premanand Kambli, Driver Operator Yogesh Amonkar, Fire Fighters Prakash Ghadi, Vasudev Tate and Suraj Karapurkar.
