PONDA: Heads of four BJP Block Committees jointly urged the party top leadership to keep MGP completely out of power since the party has already won 20 seats and can form the government easily with help of independents.
The heads of four BJP Block Committees – Ponda, Marcaim, Shiroda and Priol – said that they won their respective constituencies for BJP and assured that party workers will work harder to win Marcaim constituency in future.
Strongly opposing MGP’s support in formation of BJP-led government in the State, they said: “Even if BJP accepts MGP support in government formation, the latter should not be given any cabinet berth or any other government post.”
Vishwanath Dalvi, Ponda BJP Block chief said there are several reasons to reject support from MGP leader Ramkrishna alias Sudin Dhavalikar, who had repeatedly made statements before election results that he won`t be part of BJP Government under leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant. MGP also formed alliance with TMC which was against BJP.
“MGP’s seats in Assembly reduced to two from three after tying up with TMC. BJP can take MGP support but its MLAs should not be given any post in Government. If MGP is given Cabinet berth or any of the Government-run corporations, then it would discourage the BJP workers who worked hard for party’s victory,” he said.
BJP Shiroda Block chief Suraj Naik said in 2019 by election when Subash Shirodkar was contesting on BJP ticket in Shiroda to strengthen government, MGP was in alliance and was part of Government.
“But despite this, Dhavalikar contested Shiroda by-election going against interests of BJP government. Also during COVID pandemic, MGP leaders had opposed conversion of Shiroda Hospital into COVID hospital.
BJP Marcaim Block chief Pradeep Shet opposed MGP support. Sudesh Bhingi who contested from Marcaim on BJP ticket also strongly opposed inclusion of Sudin Dhavalikar into the Cabinet stating that MGP always put BJP into trouble despite being part of government and that there is no need of MGP as Independents had offered their support.
Priol BJP head Dilip Naik, who is also Sarpanch of Bethki Khandola, strongly opposed the inclusion of MGP in BJP government.
“When Dhavalikar brothers were part of the BJP alliance, they gave step-motherly treatment to Priol BJP workers,” Naik said.
