PONDA: Ponda Police arrested four persons on charges of kidnapping, trespass and use of fire arm at Housing Board, Curti-Ponda, on Monday.
Incidentally, the accused arrested include parents and an uncle of the victim girl, while the fourth is believed to have been hired by the parents and the uncle.
According to information, Devbahadur Vishwakarma (21) was working at Pune since the last two years and on October 30 returned to Goa along with Saraswati Vishwakarma (19).
According to Ponda Police, Devbahadur claimed to have married Saraswati.
It now appears that the marriage was against the wishes of the girl’s parents as on Monday morning, the parents, Dilip Vishwakarma, Binshah Vishwakarma and the girl’s uncle Ganjansigh Vishwakarma along with Narayan Janala reached Goa.
Ponda Police said Devbahadur and Saraswati were being forcibly taken away by the accused. Neighbours came to the rescue and Janala removed a pistol, and the police were informed and rushed to the site and detained all the four accused.
Later, all the four accused were arrested and offence was registered under kidnapping, trespass and use of fire arm.
Police said they are verifying the antecedents of Janal who was carrying the pistol.
According to Ponda Police, the accused though a resident of Pune has a pistol license from Bihar and the bullets are purchased from West Bengal. 15 bullets were also seized by the police.
