40% of Mopa land losers have not been paid compensation. The rest who have been paid compensation are at a rate of Rs 120 and Rs 240 per square metre which is three times the market rate, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced in the Goa Assembly on Tuesday, which is paltry.
The reason for the non-payment of compensation is that there are disputes within the families of land losers, the Chief Minister stated while replying to a starred question from Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco. Rs 46 crore compensation has been paid, and the rest has been deposited with the court. Opposition Leader Yuri Alemao demanded a super fast-track process to pay compensation to the poor who lost their land.
