VASCO: In a tragic incident, a 41-year-old man working in the Electricity Department was killed in an accident that took place at Kurpawada, Cortalim on Saturday.
The police gave the name of the deceased as Yoganand Bandodkar from Bhovteshwar Temple in Voddant, Vasco.
According to the Verna police, the accident occurred at around at 12.30 pm when Yoganand along with a relative Asmita Bandodkar riding pillion was proceeding towards Kurpawado when their two-wheeler collided against an oncoming motorcycle being ridden by a 20-year-old Joylan Souza of Panchawadi-Shiroda.
With the collision, all three – Yoganand, Asmita and Joylan were thrown off and sustained grievous injuries. They were shifted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Bambolim, where Yoganand succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. Asmita and Joylan were undergoing treatment, police said.
The Verna police conducted the panchanama and have registered an accident case. Verna PI Melson Colaco is conducting investigations under the guidance of Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh.
