PORVORIM: The State Government on Friday told the Legislative Assembly that the 447 interventions covered under the Health Insurance Scheme — Deen Dayal Swasthy Seva Yojana — are now open for empanelled private hospitals along with government hospitals including Goa Medical College (GMC).
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said that health insurance scheme, which would be implemented from August 15, would be revised after March 31, 2017 in a bid to make necessary changes in the scheme. “For now in-principle we have decided to open all 447 procedures to private hospitals also. For that we will have to discuss with the insurance company,” Parsekar said.
He said that earlier only 177 interventions were kept open in the private hospitals, however, there was consistent demand that all 447 procedures be allowed.
Chief Minister was replying to the question raised by Unattached MLA Atanasio Monserrate who sought to know why common surgical ailments are not been included in the scheme and whether they would be made available free of cost.
Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Health Francis D’Souza said that the Health Insurance Scheme requires improvement and need to be reviewed after implementation.
