MAPUSA: Minister of Cooperation Subhash Shirodkar said that he has directed the officials to inquire and find out the reasons that pushed 47 cooperative societies from Pernem and Bardez into bankruptcy. He was speaking at the All India Cooperative Week organised by the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies held at Morod, Mapusa.
Deputy registrar Sitaram Sawal, Dr Amrut Naik, dy registrar of Mapusa office Harish Naik and MMC Chairperson Priya Mishal were present on the dais.
“Out of 1,032 cooperative societies in Pernem and Bardez, more than 500 are housing societies. The housing societies are hotspots for debates and arguments. Those fights reflect on the registrar of cooperatives and so, more participation from women in the cooperative sector is necessary,” said Shirodkar.
He also emphasised the need for co-operative credit societies and employee credit societies in Goa to actively engage in the development of youth, women, and the weaker sections of society
