499 COVID cases in Porvorim

MLA urges govt to pay more attention to constituency

PANJIM: The number of active cases reported in Porvorim’s Primary Centre touched 499 on Monday, the highest amongst any health centre in the State. Local MLA Rohan Khaunte urged the State government to pay more attention to the constituency.

“Fervent Appeal to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and  Health Minister Vishwajit Rane to give special attention to Porvorim keeping aside political differences. Porvorim needs government help to increase testing and vaccination as it keeps recording higher numbers,” said Khaunte.

The independent MLA said he is very much worried about the high incidences of COVID in Porvorim and that everyone should come forward for voluntary testing, early vaccination and keep following COVID protocols strictly. “Together we can defeat Covid,” he tweeted.

He posted another tweet expressing his disappointment over the State government’s handling of the COVID situation in the State where the total number of active cases crossed the 4,500 figure on Monday.

“The Goa Govt seems reluctant to impose stringent Covid restrictions due to the upcoming phase of Municipal elections. Playing with the lives of people for electoral gains is highly Insensitive & Anti-People,” said Khaunte.

It may be recalled that Khaunte had recently written to the State Government regarding the prevailing COVID pandemic.
