PANJIM: The Goa Police directive to five officers to explain their phone call details in connection with the police-drug mafia nexus case is likely to snowball into a major embarrassment for the force, nearly 18 of whom are already booked in the case.
Sources in the department told Herald that two superintendents of police, DySP, police inspector and a sub inspector, who are indicted in the House Committee report on the vexed issue, have been issued ‘memoranda’.
“They have been given time to reply to the letters issued by the anti narcotics cell. During an inquiry into their call details, links with alleged drug traffickers were evident. If proven they can be suspended and even arrested,” said an officer who wished to remain anonymous.
The five member committee had named some police officers and politicians as being allegedly involved in the lethal nexus.
and protected the drug lords.
