VASCO: Medical Superintendent of Chicalim Sub District Hospital Dr Rajendra Borkar on Thursday said five cases found positive for NS1 test are not confirmed dengue cases.
“The Hospital has necessary testing kits and platelet counting facility and this time we have revised strategy to combat dengue” said Dr Borkar informed Herald.

He said, “From Monday till Thursday we have found five cases and in these four days these cases, which were found positive for the NS1 test, are not confirmed dengue cases. All these patients are the ones, who have been admitted in the hospital.”
He said that there could be few cases which can be tested in private medical facilities or some may not be tested. But the five cases which have been tested NS1 positive are stable and safe.
Dr Borkar said, “Four days ago, I had a meeting with my medical team wherein we have revived our strategy to attend to the dengue cases this year. We will have to face the dengue and COVID-19 at the same time and both are expected to increase during monsoon.”
On the action plan to combat the spread of dengue as last year there was a sudden rise in the cases in Mormugao taluka with a few fatalities reported, Dr Borkar said, “This year we have devised a strategy because last year in the initial stages, we didn’t had NS1 testing kits, platelet counting facility, but this year we are prepared to tackle this properly”.
