PORVORIM: The Porvorim police arrested five persons in connection with the murderous attack on Shivaji Khanapurkar at Reis Magos.
As informed by police, five persons had assaulted Shivaji Khanapurkar from Khanapur, Karnataka, on June 21 with weapons. Khanapurkar had suffered grievous injuries and a complaint was filed at Porvorim police station.
After tracking the accused involved with the help of surveillance footage, police arrested Vishal Rathod, 26, from Zuarinagar, Khudbuddin Shaikh, 19, from Baina, Mohammed Faizan Sayyad, Shiva Singh and Rishu Singh, all 20, and from Belgaum. All the accused were detained from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Police have seized the weapons and have filed a case against them under Sections 307, 306, 506 (l), 120-b, 143, 147, 148 and 149 IPC.
The team of police which included PI Anant Gaonkar, PSI Sanket Talkar, Sitaram Malik, Pratik Prabhu Bhat, Hawaldar Nitesh Gaude, Yogesh Shinde, Mahadev Naik, Utkarsh Desai and Siddhesh Naik carried out the operation under the guidance of SP Nidhin Valsan and DySP Vishwesh Karpe.
