VASCO: The five-hour delay in departure of Goa Express train to Delhi from Vasco created chaotic situation at the railway station on Saturday, as hundreds of passengers were left stranded at the station premises.
Several passengers also complaint of the possibility of missing their connecting trains (onward journey) from respective railway stations due to the delay in departure.
According to reports, Goa Express normally departs at 3.15 pm daily from Vasco railway station, however on Saturday the oncoming Goa Express train from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Vasco got delayed for over 10 hours and reached Vasco railway station at 4 pm instead of 6.30 am. This led to the delay in departure of Goa Express train to Hazrat Nizamuddin causing confusion among the passengers.
“I am having an onward journey ticket from Bhusaval Junction and due to delay in departure of Goa Express, we fear that we might miss our onward journey train,” said Prakash Kumar, a passenger having ticket of Goa Express train to Delhi.
He complained that when he asked the railway authorities why there had been delay in departure, they gave himd a vague reply.
When contacted, Station Manager P C Chacko confirmed the delay in departure of Goa Express on Saturday and explained the same saying, “Yes, due to some technical reasons, the Goa Express train to Delhi got delayed by five hours. However, we have made arrangements and the same train which had come down from Delhi in the evening from Delhi would take the passengers to their destinations.”
Finally, at 8.15 pm Goa Express train arrived at platform number one and departed at 8.30 pm to Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station in Delhi.
