PANJIM: The Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department has notified ‘correction’ of zones of five more land parcel across Goa together admeasuring 4,906 square metres mentioned as orchard, paddy fields and a playground in the Regional Plan 2021 to settlement zone.
A plot of land admeasuring an area of 1,743 square metres surveyed under Survey Number 262, sub-division number 20 of Tivim village earmarked as orchard, plot of land admeasuring an area of 1,638 square metres surveyed under Survey Number 139, sub-division Number 1, Block M, of Raia village earmarked as paddy field, plot of land admeasuring an area of 840 square metres surveyed under Survey Number 262, sub-division Number 25 of Tivim village earmarked as orchard, plot of land admeasuring an area of 535 square metres surveyed under Survey Number 73, sub-division Number 1-I, of Sao Jose De Areal village earmarked as playground and plot of land admeasuring an area of 150 square metres surveyed under Survey Number 451, sub-division Number 16, of Curtorim village earmarked as paddy field as per Regional Plan 2021 have been ‘corrected’ as settlement zone.
Meanwhile, the Bombay High Court at Goa will on October 11, hear two public interest litigation (PIL) writ petitions challenging Section 17 (2) of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1974, which seeks to allow ad-hoc and arbitrary conversions of privately owned plots in the Regional Plan, based on individual applications from such parties on the grounds of alleged errors that need to be corrected in the said Plan.
