5 tourists rescued off Palolem, Calangute, Sinquerim, Anjuna

CALANGUTE: A tourist from West Bengal who was kayaking at Palolem and four tourists including one woman were rescued in Calangute, Sinquerim and Anjuna by lifeguards over the weekend. 

In the Sinquerim incident, a 25-year-old woman from Pune was found stranded on the rocky sections at Sinquerim beach. Lifeguards noticed her signalling for help after she was unable to swim back to shore from the rocky outcrop due to her fear of injury.  Lifeguards used a rescue tube to ensure the woman was safely returned to shore.

At Calangute, two tourists from Hyderabad, aged 23 and 30, who were caught in a powerful rip current, endangering their lives, were brought back to shore with the help of a rescue tube and a surfboard by lifeguards, according to Drishti. 

Palolem beach witnessed the rescue of a 30-year-old tourist from Kolkata who was kayaking when he lost control, leaving him in distress. Lifeguards seeing a sudden commotion in the sea went and rescued him. 

Another 38-year-old tourist from Delhi was rescued at Anjuna beach when he was engulfed by a huge wave leaving him struggling to swim back to shore. A surfboard was used in this rescue.
