50 more counsellors in schools by December end

additional 50 counsellors will be recruited by December end.

Speaking to Herald, Education Director
G P Bhat said, “We are in the process of recruiting an additional 50
counsellors by December end to conduct awareness sessions for parents as well
as teachers on the use of cyber content by students. Till the new counsellors
are recruited, the existing ones will be provided training.”

He added, “With the number of schools
growing, we have been getting multiple requests by various schools for
allocating additional counsellors. The new recruitment has begun and within the
next 20 days they shall be appointed. Currently, scrutiny is taking place.”

On the use of mobile phones in schools
the Director said, “As per the guidelines, we do not allow students to use
mobile phones during school hours. Also they are not allowed to carry mobile
phones to school. Parents should avoid giving mobile phone to their children.”
