According to deceased’s neighbour, Chandan Salgaonkar had gone to defecate near the rivulet when he was washed away.
“Since he didn’t know to swim, he was caught in the current,” informed the neighbour.
The neighbour further informed that five years back, Chandan’s brother had died in a similar manner, when he was washed away in the same rivulet. His body was later traced downstream. Sources informed that Chandan’s footwear was found on the banks. Police, fire brigade and the police conducted the search till late Friday evening.
