PANJIM: As many as 55 Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools are on the radar of the State Education Department for failing to furnish the data with regards to vaccination of teaching and non-teaching staff.
The Directorate of Education (DoE) had on July 18 directed all the Schools and Higher Secondary Schools, within its jurisdiction, to ensure that the entire teaching and non-teaching staff receive their first vaccine jab by July 31.
The staffers, who fail to get themselves vaccinated by July 31, are directed to produce RT-PCR COVID-19 report, every week, for attending duties from August 2 onwards. The schools were directed to submit the compliance report.
The department noticed that there are 55 educational institutions that have failed to furnish the compliance report and hence has directed to produce the same by August 6, failing which action would be initiated.
“This is a very serious matter. Action will be taken against the defaulting schools,” said Deputy Director of Education Dr S S Ghadi.
The staff members of the educational institutions, who fail to produce the RT-PCR report, were directed to produce recommendation of medical experts, if they have exemption for such report for any reason.
In the interest of students, the faculty members were directed to get vaccinated at the earliest.
The State government has already said that unless the teaching and non-teaching staff is vaccinated, it will not go ahead with conduct of offline classes for the students.
