Candidates made a beeline in the District Collectorate, South, as Saturday was the last date to file nomination papers.
Amongst the candidates who filed their papers today were two-time sitting member Maria Rebello who filed her papers for the Benaulim seat accompanied by Panch member David Fernandes and others. Maria told the media that she enjoys the support of the people of Benaulim in her bid to make it to the Zilla Panchayat for the third time in a row.
Former ZP member Atul Verlekar filed his papers for the Davorlim seat. He was accompanied by Navelim Congress Block Committee President Conceissao Piexote and others at the office of the Returning Officer.
Former Davorlim Sarpanch Herculano Niasso has also thrown his hat in the ring for the Davorlim seat. Marcus D’Souza has filed nomination papers for the Colva seat.
