588 COVID recoveries recorded

374 new cases and 7 deaths on Sunday

PANJIM: After a consistent spike in COVID-19 cases, Goa on Sunday saw a large number of patients recovering than those getting infected. With 588 recoveries for the day, the State’s total count of cured patients stood at 15,839.

With 373 new COVID cases the state count of confirmed cases jumped to 

20,829 and with seven more mortalities reported in the last 24 hours the death tally now is 236.

MGP MLA Ramakrishna Dhavalikar, admitted in Manipal Hospital and BJP MLA Nilkanth Halarankar from Goa Medical college and hospital (GMC), were declared cured and accordingly discharged.

Since September 1, the State is witnessing a surge in new Coronavirus patients while there have been 44 deaths.

As many as 713 people got infected to COVID-19 on September 3 – highest ever.

September 1 saw 588 people getting infected, while September 2 added up 636 positive patients and another 508 reported on September 4 and 592 on September 5. 

Several staffers, attached to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), took to social media to announce that they have tested positive for COVID-19 and being asymptomatic have opted for home isolation.

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant is in home isolation since September 2 after he tested positive for the infection.  

Since January 29, a whopping 20,829 people test reports were positive, of which 4,754 are undergoing treatment at present. Total 2,11,909 test reports are already out, while results of 241 reports are awaited.

As per the bulletin issued by Directorate of Health Services (DHS), of the 1,515 samples tested on Saturday, 374 were positive while 900 were negative.

The death graph continued to rise as seven patients, all with co-morbid conditions, admitted in Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), succumbed to the deadly virus. Except for one female from Sancoale, all the victims are male patients.

The deceased include 65-year-old male from Bicholim, 75 years male from Porvorim, 55-year-old female from Sancoale, were declared dead on Saturday.

On Sunday, the deaths include that of 60 year male from Bicholim, 42-year-old male from Vaddem, 67-year-old male from Shiroda and 70-year-old from Bhatlem.

As many as 165 patients are currently admitted in hospital isolation while 212 opted for home isolation.
