6 cops posted at Patradevi directed to self-quarantine

Pernem/panjim: Six police personnel who were posted at the Patradevi check post have been directed to self- quarantine themselves as a precautionary measure by the authorities.

Sources informed that these six cops had reportedly come in contact with the family of five who along with their driver had arrived in Goa and were tested positive for COVID-19 at the check post and are admitted at COVID special cell. The family had repeatedly travelled through Patradevi.

Sources said the six cops were medically examined on Friday and their samples are sent for testing. The report is expected on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a day after eight persons were declared infected with COVID-19, on Friday 514 samples tested negative for the virus.

As per the health bulletin issued by Directorate of Health Services (DHS), the State has recorded 15 positive cases, of which seven have recovered and been discharged, eight are undergoing treatment at the COVID hospital.

Of the 571 samples sent for testing, the results of 514 are negative, while reports of 57 tests are awaited.

On Friday, six new suspects of coronavirus were admitted in the isolation ward of Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) and 211 inter-state domestic travellers were placed in home quarantine for 14 days on their return to Goa. Also, 381 travellers are in government quarantine facilities.
