PANJIM: A day after a few juveniles took Apna Ghar by storm, local authorities woke up to a rude shock on Saturday morning when six inmates escaped from the State-run institution.
Three girls and three boys jumped off the compound wall to escape through the bushes at around 6 am.
The local police were immediately informed to trace their whereabouts but in vain.
A 17-year-old boy who threatened the women and child department officials to jump from the second floor roof at Apna Ghar and hurl roof tiles on them on Friday was among the escapees. Another inmate, whose repatriation order to his native state Uttar Pradesh was issued earlier this week had also joined the group.
Similarly, one of the three escaped girls, having suicidal tendency and a history of escaping as she had been lodged at the Home at least three times before, also escaped A resident of Guirim and another minor girl also escaped while their repatriation papers were being readied by authorities.
Old Goa police confirmed that till late Saturday night none of the escapees were traced.
