600 apply for 79 posts at Civil Supplies

CANACONA: Over 600 applicants from Canacona are reported to have applied to 79 vacant posts, which include civil inspectors, sub-inspectors, LDCs, drivers and peons, at the Civil Supplies Department (CSD).

It may be recalled that the Civil Supplies Department had advertised the posts of inspectors (6), sub-inspectors (15), LDC (39), drivers (3) and peons (8) and the last date for accepting the duly filled prescribed applications forms ended on Wednesday. The Mamlatdar’s offices of the respective talukas were authorized to accept the forms.

Since Tuesday, many applicants were seen queuing outside the Canacona Mamlatdar office to submit their applications for various posts, and application forms along with copies of various certificates were accepted till 5 pm on Wednesday.

According to sources, over 310 applications have been received for LDC posts, while for posts of inspectors, 113 candidates have applied.

Similarly, if sources are to be believed, around 200 applications have been received to the posts of drivers and peons, taking the overall applications received in Canacona taluka to over 600.

“Several applicants have applied to two posts or more. Many post-graduates and graduates have also submitted applications for the posts of inspectors, sub-inspectors and also to the posts of LDC, while non-graduates and others have also applied for other posts, including that of the LDC, peon and driver,” a source told Herald.
