600 bungee jumps operated since inauguration in State

BICHOLIM: Bungee jumping in Goa seem to have wooed several tourists including the locals with the company claiming that they have already operated over 600 jumps since last four months despite the fact that Mayem lake is still to be inaugurated.
Bungee jumping as an adventure activity was inaugurated at Mayem on August 27 this year and there were some speculations among the people regarding its operation as a single jump came at an exorbitant price.
“We have operated over 600 jumps in Goa with about 10 percent of our jumpers being Goans,” claims the founder of the Jumpin Heights, Rahul Nigam adding, “We have just begun our operation in the State and it takes time for the word to spread, so, we expect more tourists in the near future.”
Bungee jumping is available only in Goa after Rishkesh. The bungee jump at Mayem is 55 meters in height and is open for person above 12 years of age. The project is supported by the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC).
The organisers are hopeful that once this project gets settled down they would explore more adventure activities in the State. “Bungee is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and it is an attraction in itself. We have decided to keep our doors open on New Year’s Eve, despite Tuesday usually being our weekly off. We will be operating jumps on 31st December for all the adventure enthusiasts,” the organisers stated.
Asked about the high price, the organisers claim that they have well trained team and that quality come with a price. Even if the Mayem Lake is still not operational they claim that it was a right decision to start this activity at this place.
“The jump under such pristine surroundings is heavenly as we can hear our own heartbeat in the silence of the jump zone. Bungy Jump and other activities at Mayem Lake are independent of each other but also complement each other.” Nigam claimed when asked whether the delay in the lake inauguration is affecting the jump.
