6,000 kids between 15 & 18 yrs eligible for second Covaxin dose today

Second dose to be given to those children who have completed 28 days of their first shot

PANJIM: Nearly 6,000 children in the age group of 15-18 years are eligible for their second dose of Covaxin on Monday. 

The Directorate of Health Services (DHS) will start inoculating them with the second dose from January 31. 

The second dose will be given to those children who have completed 28 days of their first shot. 

As a part of nationwide drive, Goa government started vaccinating children between 15 and 18 years from January 3 onwards. The targeted population was 72,000. 

Speaking to Herald, State Immunization Officer Dr Rajendra Borkar said all the children who had taken their first vaccine dose on January 3 are eligible for second dose on January 31. 

Borkar said around 80 per cent of the targeted children have taken their first shot of vaccine so far.

“Those who have not received their first shot, we appeal the parents to get their children for vaccination,” he appealed.  

The vaccination drives are conducted across all the government, aided and private schools.
