MAPUSA: The State government on Friday commissioned 6,000 litres of liquid oxygen storage tank for medical use at North Goa District Hospital, here.
Besides, a PSA concentrator was also commissioned, which was installed under the PM CARES Fund. Currently, the tank will be utilised for the medical treatment purpose only.
Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza in presence of Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr Mohandas Pednekar, Dr Swapnil Arsekar and Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (GSIDC) General Manager Jude Carvalho expressed happiness over the commissioning of the oxygen tank and said now “we can start the process of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) department at the district hospital”.
“With this oxygen tank, the North Goa District Hospital is self-sufficient in terms of oxygen supplies. Earlier, we could not process with the ICU department because provision of oxygen was not there. But with the commission of an oxygen tank we can go ahead with the process to have ICU which will benefit the people,” said D’Souza.
