PANJIM: In major relief, 62 persons who were isolated for suspected COVID-19, have all tested negative for the infection. Besides, two of the five patients, who were undergoing treatment, after being reported positive for coronavirus, have now tested negative.
On Thursday, three new suspects were admitted in the isolation ward of Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), taking the number of people in isolation to 27.
As per the Health Bulletin issued by Directorate of Health Services (DHS), 62 test reports were received on Thursday and all are negative. Another 17 reports are awaited.
“All the 48 samples tested at the Pune virology laboratory have come negative. Also, the tests conducted at GMC facility are negative,” Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said.
Rane said that the primary report, of two of five positive patients, is negative. “However, we are waiting for the second test, which will be done with a gap of 24 hours, as per the guidelines,” he said.
The minister said that if the test comes negative again, then the patients currently admitted at the COVID Hospital Margao, will be quarantined in other centres.
As per data, 19 passengers are under home quarantine and 11 under facility quarantine.
At present contact quarantined at Margao Residency are 49, another 18 at Old Goa Residency and 17 in Mayem Residency.
There are two each quarantined at the North Goa District Hospital and Chicalim Sub District Hospital and six in Ponda Sub District Hospital.
