7 held for theft of liquor from Excise godown

PONDA: Collem Police and Excise Officials arrested seven for the theft of seized goods worth Rs 1.55 lakh from the godown at Mollem.
Collem police said that the Excise department had complained on Friday that liquor seized by them and stored at Mollem godown was stolen.
Following the complaint, police arrested Sham Sanadi (28) from Mollem and on interrogating he revealed that six others were involved in the crime. Sanadi is originally from Chandagad in Karnataka.
Based on the information provided by Sanadi, police arrested Irrana alias Sameer Kavlekar (27), Suresh Mallesh Bandiwader (29),  Murlidas Suresh Satnaik (24), Parmesh Gopal Bandiwader (27) Laxman Gopal Bandiwader, all natives of Karnataka, and Amith Raja Gaundar (28), a native of Kerala.
The accused sold the liquor worth Rs 1.55 lakh to Nandita Wine Shop at Ponda and liquor worth Rs 1000 to Anand Ram Bar and Restaurant at Ponda. Excise and Ponda police seized stolen liquor comprising of 34 boxes and loose 32 bottles.
