7 high-risk travellers isolated in hospital

All had come in contact with Dharwad man who tested COVID-19 positive; Low-risk passengers quarantined at home

PANJIM: The State government has identified passengers who came in contact with the COVID-19 positive Dharwad native who returned from abroad, and has quarantined seven high-risk passengers in hospital, while low-risk passengers have been put under home quarantine. 

The State also recorded two more suspects of COVID-19, who have been put on hospital isolation on Monday, taking the number of patients currently in isolation at Goa Medical College (GMC) to six. 

The media bulletin released by Directorate of Health Services states that besides two suspects, 19 others have been home quarantined while seven have been under facility quarantine. 

A total of 13 samples of five suspects from GMC and eight from T B Hospital, Margao have been sent for testing, reports of which are awaited. 

Since January 29, 2020 till Monday, March 23, 2020, the State recorded 36 suspected COVID-19 cases under hospital isolation, 59 under facility quarantine and 647 under home quarantine.

The bulletin also states that two samples sent to the laboratory on March 21, have tested negative. At present, nine suspects are in T B Hospital, Margao and nine others have been admitted to ESI Hospital. 

Passengers, who came in contact with the Dharwad resident have also been put under quarantine and monitored by the doctors. The government has identified seven high-risk contacts of COVID-19 patients, who are now quarantined while 31 low-risk contacts of the same patient are traced and put on home quarantine. 

The Dharwad native had returned to his native place from Australia via Dubai and Goa on March 12 and tested positive for COVID-19 on March 22, 2020. The government in Goa swung into action and began identifying passengers who came in contact with him.

The country, as on Monday, has reported over 400 COVID-19 positive cases while around 23 have been cured.
