70 Bottles of Illicit Alcohol Seized from Goa-Hyderabad Bus

In a recent development, the Prohibition & Excise Enforcement division of Medak apprehended two individuals and confiscated 70 bottles of alcohol from a Hyderabad-bound bus originating from Goa. The officials took swift action by stopping the vehicle at the Kamkole toll plaza and subsequently arresting the driver, Ulhas Shridhar (52), and his aide, Abasaheb (51).

K. Raghuram, Assistant Commissioner of Medak Prohibition & Excise Enforcement division, disclosed that during a routine vehicle check, the arrested individuals admitted to their intention of selling the liquor in Telangana at inflated prices. The seized alcohol, comprising various brands, was found on the bus owned by Kadamba Travels.

Notably, the Prohibition & Excise department had previously issued notices to all bus operators connecting Goa and Hyderabad, explicitly instructing them not to transport liquor into Telangana. Raghuram emphasized that facilitating the illegal transportation of non-duty paid liquor is a violation under the Excise laws of Telangana.
