PANJIM/margao/valpoi: In all 7647 nominations have been received for the 1522 wards in 186 village panchayats, polls for which are schedule on June 11.
The State Election Commission has revealed that in North Goa 3940 nominations were received while in South Goa there were 3707 nominations received.
The highest numbers of nominations are in Bardez which got 1540 nominations followed by Salcette with 1173 nominations. The least nominations came from Canacona with just 285. On the last day of filing nominations, the SEC received 1599 nomination of which 799 were from North Goa and 800 from South Goa.Scrutiny of nominations will be taken up on May 26 and 27 while the last day for withdrawals is May 29.
As per the schedule, elections will be held on June 11, and counting will take place on June 13. Approximately 1700 ballot boxes would be used for polling, which will be done through ballot papers.
Meanwhile in Salcete taluka, a total of 1173 nominations for the 33 panchayats were filed.
Mamlatdar Vishal Kundaikar received 514 nominations, Joint Mamlatdar Manoj Korgaonkar (375) and Joint Mamlatdar Shailendra Dessai (284).
The Salcete officials have decided not to reveal the single nomination applications. When question one of the Mamlatdars replied, “It is best not to hurry and announce any candidate’s victory because the scrutiny of applications is pending and there are chances of things turning out to be thumbs up and thumbs down for several candidates.” He revealed that there single applications and added that he will wait till the scrutiny is complete.
Meanwhile in Sattari taluka , a total of 401 nominations forms have been filed, and said Sattari Mamlatdar Rajesh Azgaonkar.
