8 held for inter-gang rival clashes at Merces

PANJIM: Old Goa police arrested eight persons in connection with  inter-gang rival clashes that took place on Saturday night  between two rival gangs from Merces and Chimbel.
The police recovered 2 knives and 6 two-wheelers from the scene of the crime. Four persons were reportedly injured in the clashes and are admitted at Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital for treatment.
According to the police, a member from the Merces gang assualted  his rival from the Chimbel gang. Following the incident the Chimbel youth contacted his gang and asked them to come to Merces. When the Chimbel gang reached Merces, a confrontation started resulting in the Merces youth calling his gang members to the spot. The incident took place between 10.30 pm and 11pm at Merces.  
Both the groups later filed cross complaints against each other. 
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Nelson Albuquerque said police have registered attempt to murder case against all the accused.
Suraj Shetye,  Marcelino Dias, Vishal Golatkar, Gauresh Naik and 5 others belong to one gang while Sameer Mulla, Adul Maldar, Arif Nirgim Akhtar Mulla, Irfan Kittur, Nisar, Shebaz Mulla, Joshua Talwar, Mubarak Mulla, Niyaz Beig were part of the other gang as per police report. 
Meanwhile, the police said that Joshua Talwar, Shaibhaj Mulla, Niyaz Beg, Aktar Mulla, Marcelino Dias, Gauresh Naik and Vishal Golatkar were arrested under Section 143, 147, 148, 324, 307 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Arms Act 3 and 4.
