MARGAO: Councillors representing Fatorda areas in the Margao Municipal Council have identified around eight vendors’ zones to be established in that constituency, while the councillors from Margao have yet to communicate their views.
At some wards in Fatorda, the vending zone will serve two wards as they are on the border like Chairperson Dr Babita Prabhudessai and Jose Fernandes will share one zone while another exclusive zone will be prepared for Dr Babita.
“I have recommended setting up a vending zone on the road leading to the Muth which is presently being used as a dumping ground for construction debris,” said Dr Babita adding that she will go ahead only if there are no objections from the people around.
Vice Chairperson Tito Cardozo has suggested that the satellite market existing near the old Chowgule College building be converted into a vending zone while one vending zone is proposed on the bypass road near the four road junction after Bolshe circle.
“All the vending zones will be finally prepared through the Chief Officer as the councillors are supposed to inform him where they want the zones to be set up,” said the chairperson.
