MARGAO: Nearly eight years after it was notified the Sub Health Centre was finally inaugurated at Manora today by Fr Salvador Rodrigues chaplain of Our Lady of Monserate Chapel at Manora. Although notified on August 7, 2009 the Manora Sub Health was functioning in neighbouring Barebhat.
While a female Multipurpose Health Worker and a patient attendant will be present everyday from 9 am to 4:30 pm except for Saturday when they will be present from 9 am to 1 pm, the medical officer will be present only on Monday from 2 pm to 4 pm.
Dr Vinesh Gaonkar of Loutolim Health Centre said the sub health centre will be dispensing drugs for diabetes and pressure and urged the people to use it. “We can given all tablets for various diseases and are even empowered to purchase medicines from the open market if required by the patient,” he said.
He also advised the people to prevent stagnation of water during the monsoons as that is where mosquitoes that spread different kinds of diseases breed. “Please overturn even a coconut shell outside your house as that is where the mosquito breeds,” he said.
Fr Salvador while pointing out that health is very important and recalling that even Jesus Christ healed a lot of people thanked Anthony Fernandes for getting the sub health centre at Manora close to the people.
Anthony thanked Health Minister Vishwajit Rane for directing the health centre to be shifted to Manora.
