PANJIM: Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister stated that 80 per cent of the dues that were owed to the sugarcane farmers of the State have been cleared.
Kavlekar offered clarity on the issue at a Vanamahotsav function at Chapoli Dam, Canacona along with Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes. He was addressing media persons about support being provided to the farmers of the State.
He pointed out that the budget had made a financial provision of Rs 10 crore and that the department has been helping out the farmers in various forms via subsidies, supply of various equipment, compensation to damage caused by natural disasters and making it easier for the farmers to make their payments as well.
