PANJIM: Eighty mobiles and 2 kg of ganja and other narcotic drugs were seized in a raid conducted inside the Colvale jail on Thursday.
Indian Reserve Police led by Inspector General of Prisons Hemant Kumar, IAS searched the premises of Colvale Jail and confiscated the banned items and narcotics drugs.
Police also seized 200 beedi packets and other drugs. Further investigation is on.
Sources revealed that the raid was kept a top secret until the last minute.
A strong force of 200 IRB personnel, were asked to deposit their mobiles and wallets so that the mission remained a top secret.
The raid has once again exposed the security lapses at the jail.
