87 candidates in fray for Ponda elections

Today is the last day for withdrawal of nominations

PONDA: Eighty-seven candidates have filed around 117 nominations, including double nominations, but after scrutiny held on Monday by the Returning Office Vishal Kundaikar the extra nominations were rejected and all 87 candidates who filed nominations have been accepted as valid nominations. 
The PMC election is scheduled on April 29. The date of withdrawal of nominations is Tuesday, April 17 and after withdrawal of nominations, the final list will published.
Following is the list of Congress, BJP and MGP candidates who are in the fray.
Congress Party supported Ponda Citizens Progressive Front panel candidates are: Ward 1 Chandrika Naik,  Ward 2 Rupak Desai, Ward 3 Mingel Fernandis, Ward 4 Reshma Amonkar, Ward 5 Lalan Naik, Ward 6 William Aguiar, Ward 7 Diksha Naik, Ward 8 Videsh Naik, Ward 9 Bella Rodriguez, Ward 10 Rasik  Parkar, Ward 11 Ritesh Naik, Ward 12 Melinda Colaco, Ward 13 Vidhitha Prabu, Ward 14 Anand Naik and Ward number 15 Kishore Naik.
MGP backed Rising Ponda Panel candidates are: Ward 1 Riya Dangui, Ward 2 Virendra Dhavlikar, Ward 3 Yatish Savkar, Ward 4 Seeta Kakodkar, Ward 5 Sushant Kavlekar,  Ward 6 Manguesh Kundaikar,  Ward 7 Anil Korde,  Ward 8 Pradeep Naik, Ward 9 Seema Vincent, Ward 10 Vipinkumar Sirsat, Ward 11 Anil Naik, Ward 12 Jaya Sawanth, Ward 13 Ameena Naik, Ward 14 Nidhi Mamlekar and Ward 15 Geetali Talavlikar.
The BJP-supported Ponda Citizen Committee panel convenor Sunil Desai declared their candidates for civic polls. From Ward 1 Archana Dangui, Ward 2 Nagesh Priolkar, Ward 3 Irvin Soares, Ward 4 Chandrakala Naik, Ward 5 Venktesh Naik, Ward 6 Ashwith Kuncolienkar, Ward 7 Vishwanath Dalvi, Ward 8 Preetam Naik, Ward 9 Manisha Pai, Ward 10 Shantaram Colvekar, Ward 11 Vivek Volvoikar,  Ward 12 Candidate is not declared, Ward 13 Darshana Naik, Ward 14 Subash Shirsat and Ward 15 Bharathi Panvelkar. 
Beside Congress, BJP and MGP, who have declared its panel candidates, there are also NGOs like Amee Phoneka contesting the elections.
